‘We have horses.’
Forget those heartbreaking Instagram notes and claims that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have broken up. Since splitting in March, they’ve been spotted hooking up in New York and he spoke about their non-relationship and non-romance very carefully in an interview. Namely, he insinuated that something was definitely going on but that they ‘don’t need to put a label on it’.
After explaining that the two were still very much a fixture in each other’s lives (‘We have horses’, he explained – because that’s a normal thing for couples to do), he revealed to GQ in his cover profile that, ‘We’re adults. We don’t need to put a label on it, make it something for people’s expectations.’
He also believed that Gigi Hadid had changed the way he viewed the world and said that he was ‘really thankful’ to have met her.
He explained, ‘I had a very negative outlook on things. That might have been adolescence or testosterone or whatever the fuck was running through my body at the tim. She’s helped me to look at things from a positive angle.’
Apparently, she’s the complete opposite of him in the best of ways: ‘hyper-organized, clear-headed, and positive’ according to the profile. She’s especially good with ‘dates’ he explains, though his interview Carrie Battan misheard him say ‘debts’.
He corrected her, ‘No, no. Dates. She doesn’t handle my finances yet.’
Then, if we had any doubt about just how serious the two of them are, he said, ‘We’ll get to that eventually.’
Well, then. It seems like the Hadid-Malik connection is still alive and well – and potentially more serious than we thought. If an ex-One Directioner is trusting you with their bank account, you know you’re in the good books.
