Last night saw the 24th Critics’ Choice awards take place, with the world still talking about Claire Foy’s powerful speech on feminism and the new Fiji water girl going viral.

The theme of the night however was undoubtedly sisterhood, from Claire Foy and Viola Davis leaving the stage hand-in-hand to Lady Gaga and Glenn Close sharing the Best Actress gong.

But they weren’t the only women showing love and admiration for each other, with Killing Eve actress and Critics’ Choice winner Sandra Oh fangirling over the leading ladies of Crazy Rich Asians.

The romantic comedy is undoubtedly the film of last year, for not only the strong female leads but also the Asian representation, being the first all-Asian cast in a major studio film in 25 years.

It’s hardly surprising therefore that Sandra Oh couldn’t help but run over and embrace them, something that seemed to go down well with the Crazy Rich Asians cast.

Highlighting the need for Asian women playing the number one leads in studio movies, Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu told Marie Claire‘s Junior Digital News Editor Jenny Proudfoot, ‘We definitely have had actors who are worthy of that, like Sandra Oh – she’s tremendous.’

She continued: ‘She should have been the star of her own movie several movies ago, but she’s always been the number two or number three. She said even with Killing Eve when she read the script she just assumed that she was number two.

‘Why? Because it just doesn’t happen and you know, number two is great, number three is great, everybody who is a supporting cast member is fantastic and it’s awesome. But it’s when the industry expects a certain ethnicity to only do that and to just be grateful for that. I think there have to be some people who ask for more.’

Well, it seems that the Crazy Rich Asians cast are definitely fans.
