There’s no doubt the Duchess of Sussex knows a thing or two about fashion, having dressed for many red carpet events when she was in Hollywood, and adding a modern twist to her royal wardrobe since marrying Prince Harry – that Givenchy dress at the Fashion Awards though.
Now Meghan Markle has decided to share her fashion tips to help women in need. Yesterday, she visited Smart Works, which gives interview advice and clothing to vulnerable women, who have been referred to the centre from places like care homes, shelters and prisons.
It was also announced that Meghan is the new patron of the charity, and she revealed she was excited about it, ‘I’m so happy to be here. You guys know I’ve been quietly coming by… close to a year. It’s nice to be able to now do it publicly and really talk about the work that you do.’
So what were the Duchess’ top fashion tips? During the visit, she selected some pieces for 55-year-old Patsy Wardally, which included a tan cape, black bag and red and white print dress, as well as a couple of quirky accessories.
She definitely wasn’t one head-to-toe black or grey, saying a bold colour ‘has a nice pop to it’ – she also said she loves green at the moment.
Whilst she chose a bold colour piece for each woman, she kept the rest quite classic, meaning the looks were more wearable. She also looked for timeless black bags, that were medium-sized, saying ‘This is good, she can wear it so many times’.
Finally, the Duchess encouraged them to have fun with their accessories, picking out chunky bracelets and statement earrings.
