The fans remember.
Hands up if you’re counting down the days until we get Game of Thrones back? Same.
The final season of the HBO show will air in April, and we have so many questions. Are Jon Snow and Daenerys still getting down in the cabin? Is Tyrion going to betray the dragon mama? And where the hell did Jaime get to?
As the start date looms, many are speculating about what will happen next for the gang. We’ve had a couple of telling trailers and sneaky peaks, but the final outcome is a closely guarded secret.
It hasn’t stopped fans from coming up with their own theories, though, and some believe that the latest teaser could hint at what’s to come.
Cast your mind back to season one. Back when life in Winterfell, and Westeros in general, was simpler! When Rob Stark was still alive and little Arya wasn’t murdering everyone and we thought Joffrey was the worst because we hadn’t met Ramsay Bolton yet.
You’ll remember when Robert Baratheon came to the north for a friendly family sleepover with his old mate, Ned Stark, and co. When he arrived at his pals place, Ned said to him: ‘Your grace, Winterfell is yours.’
And then what followed was a whole load of bloodshed, incest and an undead dragon.
In a teaser clip for the upcoming season, we see Sansa Stark and Daenerys meet for the first time and exchange the exact same words.
‘Winterfell is yours, your grace,’ Sansa coldly tells Dany.
Someone has taken the time to put the two scenes together, take a look.
There are stark differences between the two meetings. Ned and Robert were old friends, and the Warden of the North was warmly welcoming the king.
However, Sansa and Dany’s meeting is icy AF. Last season, we questioned Sansa and everything she was up to with Littlefinger – only to realise that she was really a goodie the whole time and wasn’t betraying Jon at all. Hurrah.
But do these mirroring scenes show that Sansa will be loyal to her new Queen, as Ned was to Robert? Or does the fact that she seems more hostile than hospitable hint that she’ll be causing trouble?
There’s also the fact that the last time a royal came to Winterfell, they ended up dying – as did the host. Will these two meet the same fate?!
Only three months until we find out. Gulp.
