In 2017, US organic food sales reached an amazing $ 49.4 billion ( 1 ).
We know that organic food is a food that can be produced without the use of harmful pesticides and other synthetic food supplements. But then how do organic foods really make a difference? Will it actually enhance your health? Let us help you find answers to such questions.

The Science behind Organic Food
"Biological" refers to the way farmers grow and process agricultural products, which includes improving soil and water quality, reducing pollution and ensuring safe and natural habits and behavior of animals
Organic farming prevents the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, antibiotics, growth hormones (for livestock) or genetic engineering.
Foods (fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, etc.) Made by such methods are often considered healthier and much more nutritious 2 ).
Although more research is needed, studies show that organic farming can contribute to optimal health status and also reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases. Diseases ( 3 )
All this shows us how organic foods can be better.

What Are The Benefits Of Organic Food
1. Organic foods can offer more nutrients
Studies show that organic foods offer a moderate increase in some nutrients. This is especially true in the case of some flavonoids that have antioxidant properties ( 4 ). Animal studies show slightly higher levels of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in organically grown green leafy vegetables and potatoes. Also, organically grown cereals contain a better quality protein ( 5 )
2. Can reduce the risk of chronic diseases
Consumers of organic food are more likely to live healthier lives and have a much lower risk of chronic illnesses. This is because they tend to choose more fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains ( 6 ).
Organic products contain higher levels of bioactive compounds. It may also contain lower levels of unhealthy substances (such as cadmium and synthetic pesticides and fertilizers) than conventional agricultural products ( 3 ).
Some research suggests the need for more research. A study conducted at the University of Oxford found that intake of organic foods showed little or no reduction in cancer cases (19459033) 7 )
3. It may increase your immunity
Some animal studies have shown that ingesting organic foods can increase your immunity. Following a challenge to the health that affects the immune system, chickens receiving organic feed show a faster recovery ( 8 ).
In the same study, chickens fed with conventionally grown food showed a greater total weight in their lives. This is not the case for organic feed
4. Can Prevent Aging Aging
Organic foods can have higher levels of vitamin C – and also of better quality. Studies have shown that vitamin C can help slow down aging ( 9 )
5. Ecologically clean
Organic food is good for the environment, which means it is good for us. Organic farming, where organic food comes from, looks at long-term effects on the ecosystem. Organic foods are produced in order to establish ecological balance, thus maintaining soil fertility and preventing pest problems simultaneously ( 10 ).
The use of organic fertilizers (such as manure or compost) for the production of organic food also improves soil structure and prevents water pollution.
Organic foods also prevent erosion of the topsoil. Since soil is the basis for organic farming, food produced through such practices is beneficial for the environment (19459038) 11 )
6. It is not GMO
The use of GMOs (GMOs) is banned in organic food. To meet the USDA organic regulations, farmers are required to show that they do not use GMOs in their produce ( 12 ).
Although GMOs are not all bad, the topic itself is unclear, GM foods offered on international markets are unlikely to harm human health – thanks to the strict rules 13 ).
Still doing research. While research is convincing, avoid as much GM food as possible
7. You can try it better
Scientific research tells us that when plants grow organically without the use of synthetic pesticides, their taste is getting stronger. Higher levels of antioxidants (which are characteristic of organic foods) can affect the organoleptic qualities of food – including sensations of aroma, taste and taste.
The taste can be subjective. But even if some individuals find a better tasting of organic foods, they are more likely to continue with it. Thanks to the abundance of antioxidants, organic food helps fight diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke and even some cancers – all of which are caused by oxidative stress (19459041) 14 ). Organic foods can be much better than regular products. But then what do we mean by regular production? How does organic production differ from it?

How organic food is different from regular food?
In addition to the way they are produced, another difference is the content of antioxidants – organic food has been found to have relatively higher levels of antioxidants ( 15 )
E, there is more. ” width=”600″ height=”1239″ /> These were the differences between organic and regular produce. Does this mean that from now on you have to choose only organic food? This can be a little heavy in your pocket, is not it?

What foods should you consume organically?
Ideally everyone. But there are some foods that, according to research, are more likely to be exposed to harmful chemicals and pesticides during their production.
According to the Environmental Working Group, an American activist group that specializes in agricultural research and advocates pure nutrition, follow the usual foods that most likely contain pesticides. EWG tagged them as Dirty Dozen *.
|| Percentage of Conventional Diversity of Pesticides
|| What You Need to Know
|| Conventional spinach has high levels of permethrin which is a neurotoxic insecticide ( 16 ). The grapes are found to contain on average 5 pesticide residues
|| A sample of conventional celery contains almost 13 pesticides. Neckarins
|| One sample of conventional nectarines contained residues of 15 pesticides
|| 80% of the tested apples contained diphenylamine, a pesticide is toxic ( 17 ]).
|| Sweet peppers
|| Pesticides in conventional sweet bells
|| Medium conventional tomatoes contain almost 4 pesticides. Potatoes have been found to contain chlorpropham, a herbicide found to cause diarrhea and vomiting 18 .
|| Conventionally harvested pears contain high concentrations of pesticides, including fungicides. Strawberries in the sample contained 22 pesticide residues.
|| Conventional cherries contained on average 5 pesticides
* ) The figures obtained from the official EWG website (19459058) 19 )
is that conventional varieties of these foods have high concentrations of pesticides. If you need to take these foods, it is best to go for organic varieties.
The Environmental Working Group also came up with another set of foods called Clean Fifteen whose conventional production has the smallest amount of pesticides **. They include the following:
20 ) *** Sweet corn and papaya can be produced from genetically modified seeds. So choose the organic forms of for these foods
If you want to go for these foods, you can choose the conventional variety. Of course, nothing is beating organically. But if you're under budget, it's good to stick to the conventionally grown forms of these foods.
In this way, how can you identify organic foods if you choose to go organic? How to choose the right one?

Organic or not? ” width=”700″ height=”450″ />
Fortunately, the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) has set up a program of strict governmental standards that helps us identify almost all organic foods (19459062) 21 ) . These standards also regulate the cultivation, processing and processing of organic production
1. You can search for the following product descriptions:
There are still many studies with organic foods. The studies conducted so far have identified two outcomes – one that shows how organic food can be better than conventional food, and the other that shows how it is not better than the last one ( 23 19659002] would like to conclude that organic food is a better option and can offer additional benefits. What about you? What do you think? Let us know by leaving a comment in the box below.
No. While organic means the way a particular food is produced, naturally simply means the lack of artificial colors, flavors or preservatives in food.
Why are organic foods so expensive? One of the main reasons is the way it is produced. Since organic foods do not involve the use of synthetic chemicals, it takes more time (and naturally) for the production of organic crops.
Also, the prevention of synthetic chemicals requires the use of more labor, thus increasing costs
